Acupuncture is a treatment that uses very thin steel needles inserted into the skin to stimulate specific points in the body. The goal is to relieve a health condition or symptom, such as pain. The practice comes from traditional Chinese medicine. Scientific studies have confirmed its effectiveness for some conditions. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. These naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture. A course of acupuncture usually creates longer lasting pain relief than when a single treatment is used.

MEDICAL EFFECTS
Acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system which, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

CONDITIONS TREATED

Tennis elbow

Sports massage is the manual manipulation of the muscles, helping people who have physically demanding lifestyles and hobbies. This kind of therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue groups. Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma.

MEDICAL EFFECTS
Sports massage releases and reduces tension in muscles, improves circulation and encourages the removal of waste products such as lactic acid which builds up during sporting activities. Following exercise, sports massage helps to relax the body which can prevent injury. It is of particular benefit to those who are prone to overuse injuries, as the muscles are allowed to relax and recover fully before the next exercise session.
